Toni Kroos admits ‘bitter’ feeling after Clasico defeat

Toni Kroos has revealed how a long stint in anti-doping control after Real Madrid’s 4-0 Clasico defeat to Barcelona made a bad night even worse.

La Liga leaders Los Blancos were comprehensively outplayed by their traditional rivals in the absence of Karim Benzema, with strikes from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres giving Xavi’s side the win.

Kroos was substituted at half-time with the score 2-0 in Barça’s favour and watched on from the sidelines as the Catalan side earned a thumping and unexpected victory.

Speaking on his podcast, the Germany international revealed he and Vinicius Junior were paired with Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba in doping control.

“That rounded off the night, sitting there for an hour-and-a-half in doping control, ” he said.
