Rangers have confirmed that Alfredo Morelos will miss the remainder of the season, having undergone surgery on a thigh injury.
The forward suffered the injury while on international duty with Colombia recently, and missed Rangers’ crucial Old Firm meeting with Celtic as a result.
The Gers sorely missed their striker as they suffered a damaging defeat to their inner-city rivals. Goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers cancelled out an early Aaron Ramsey goal to earn Celtic a win that all but secured the league title.
The club confirmed the injury on their official website: “Following an injury sustained whilst on international duty with Colombia, Alfredo Morelos has undergone surgery to his thigh.
“Our medical team are pleased with the outcome of the operation and his rehabilitation programme is underway. He will return to training with the First Team squad during pre season. We wish him well during his rehabilitation.”
