Player ratings as Blancos secure easy win

Real Madrid followed up their dazzling victory at Chelsea with a straightforward win over Getafe on Saturday night that reestablished their 12-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Casemiro stooped to head in Vinicius Junior’s excellent cross for the opener before Lucas Vazquez secured the points in the second half with a calm finish.

After his starring role at Stamford Bridge in midweek where he scored a hat trick, Karim Benzema looked to have given Real the perfect start by rolling in inside five minutes, but his strike was chalked off as the offside flag went up.

Los Blancos dominated possession with their largely rotated midfield three of Eduardo Camavinga, Casemiro and Federico Valverde, with Marcelo, Valverde and Vinicius all bringing saves of varying difficulty from Getafe stopper David Soria.

It took most of the first half but the visitors’ resistance was eventually broken in the 37th minute when Vinicius’ brilliant cross with the outside of his boot found Casemiro, who had the simple task of nodding home.
