Ellen White climbs to second in all-time England top goalscorer charts

Ellen White moved ahead of Sir Bobby Charlton and Harry Kane in England’s all-time top goalscoring charts as she netted during the Lionesses World Cup qualifying victory over North Macedonia.

White became the first ever woman to hit 50 goals for England by heading home Ella Toone’s cross after 41 minutes as the Lionesses cruised to a 10-0 win. The forward reached the goalscoring landmark on her 105th appearance for the national side.

The goal means that only Wayne Rooney has more goals in an England shirt than White, with the former Manchester United forward retiring with 53 goals in 120 appearances for his country.

It continues a season of breaking records on the international stage for White, who overtook the great Kelly Smith to become the Lionesses‘ all-time top goal scorer in November with a hat-trick against Latvia.

Although her 50th goal for her country came against a North Macedonia side ranked 132nd in the world, the Manchester City striker does also boast a proud scoring record in major tournaments for England.
